Frequently asked questions
What is the Umm al-Qura calendar?
Umm al-Qura is the official Hijri calendar of Saudi Arabia. It is calculated in advance from astronomical data, so dates can be known ahead of time.
Can the date differ from my local moon sighting?
Yes. The start of Ramadan, Eid and Dhul Hijjah is confirmed by moon sighting, so the actual day can differ by one day from the calculated calendar. Follow the announcement of the authorities where you live.
